Responsibilities
Our Cape Girardeau Plant is searching for a Quarry Superintendent who will be responsible for the overall operation of the Quarry. The Quarry Superintendent will direct the drilling, blasting, stripping, loading crushing and storing of limestone. This person will work with the Quality department to optimize the blending of limestone to meet the plant’s needs, as well as with the Corporate Mining Engineer and Blasting Contractor to maximize the quarry reserves and plan the layout of the quarry.
The candidate selected will function as a safety leader in the quarry by demonstrating a personal commitment to working safely and ensuring the plant continues to eliminate work related risks. The Quarry Superintendent must meet production goals and keep accurate records with regards to equipment maintenance, cycle times, production targets, requisition of materials and adherence to budgeted cost targets. The incumbent in this position will work with the Plant Manager to establish a quarry budget, as well as quarry personnel to optimize and reduce costs through continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Geological Engineering preferred

Qualifications

- 5 years’ experience in mine supervision is required
- Union experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a self-starter able to work with minimum supervision with sound decision making abilities
- Must have the ability to effectively plan mining activities and demonstrate leadership qualities
