This role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, patient, and able to work independently while still maintaining strong communication with family members and care coordinators. Caregivers are trusted to provide hands-on support that promotes independence, enhances daily functioning, and improves overall quality of life.
This is a part-time position, primarily scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with potential for additional hours based on client needs and availability.
Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided, making this a great opportunity for both experienced caregivers and those new to the field who are eager to learn and grow in a supportive environment.
Position Overview
Caregivers are responsible for providing direct, in-home assistance to clients with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities. Each caregiver plays a key role in ensuring clients feel safe, respected, and supported in their daily routines.
You will work one-on-one with clients in a home setting, following individualized care plans tailored to each person’s specific needs. While you will primarily work independently, you will also maintain regular communication with family members and/or supervisors to ensure continuity of care and proper documentation of services provided.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care & Daily Living Support
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting support
- Help clients maintain personal comfort, cleanliness, and dignity throughout all care tasks
- Provide meal preparation and feeding assistance when needed, ensuring dietary guidelines are followed
- Support light housekeeping tasks related to client care, such as tidying living spaces and maintaining a safe environment
Mobility & Physical Assistance
- Assist clients with safe transfers (bed, wheelchair, chair, etc.)
- Provide mobility support including walking assistance and repositioning to prevent discomfort or injury
- Encourage safe movement and participation in physical activities as outlined in the care plan
- Use proper body mechanics and safety techniques to prevent injury to both client and caregiver
Health Monitoring & Safety
- Observe clients for changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral condition
- Provide medication reminders and assist with medication routines as directed in the care plan
- Maintain a safe home environment by identifying and reporting potential hazards
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations and follow established protocols
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate regularly with family members and care coordinators regarding client status and needs
- Document care activities accurately and in a timely manner as required
- Report concerns, incidents, or changes in condition immediately to appropriate parties
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in accordance with privacy standards
Emotional Support & Companionship
- Provide meaningful companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation
- Engage clients in conversation and encourage participation in daily activities
- Support clients in maintaining routines that promote stability and well-being
- Foster a positive, respectful, and encouraging care environment
Schedule
- Part-time position
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM
- Additional hours may be available depending on client needs and performance
Required Qualifications
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care
- Reliability and strong attendance record
- Ability to work independently in a home setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow care plans and written/verbal instructions
- Physical ability to assist with mobility and lifting when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in caregiving, home care, assisted living, or patient support roles
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, elderly clients, or special needs populations
- Basic understanding of personal care, hygiene assistance, or medical terminology
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with documentation or care reporting systems
Training & Support
Harmony Rise Home Care provides structured on-the-job training to ensure all caregivers feel confident and prepared. Training includes:
