What are the responsibilities and job description for the ANALYST-BUDGET position at Harmony Public Schools?
JOB GOAL: Under general supervision, the Budget Analyst is responsible for helping prepare, maintain, and report on the annual budget. The Budget Analyst will analyze data to find any deviations to budget, report these issues to management, and help provide solutions to the issues we encounter.

Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Finance related field (preferred)
- Progressive experience in preparing budgets and/or analysis of large data sets (preferred)
- Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
- Monitors individual district’s expenditures and payroll costs; identifies any deviations to their budgets and communicates
- Forecasts Revenue vs. Cost (estimate vs. actual)
- Provides reports on the variations throughout different spending categories.
- Reviews financial and operating budget reports for accuracy and identifies areas where appropriate use of funds can be
- Serves as the liaison between the District and the Finance team to ensure the budgets are expended in a manner that
- Analyzes budget data for multiple programs and funds; analyzes and monitors line item expenses; provides supervisor
- Establishes budgeting systems and procedures; analyzes and monitors categorical budgets and expenditures for
- Utilizes the ERP system to: Monitor and amend line-item budgets. Reviews, analyzes, and updates position management
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Advanced Microsoft Office (especially Excel) skills
- Advanced analytical skills; must be able to analyze large amount of financial data and be capable of distinguishing
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and be proactive with addressing the budgetary needs of the campus, district, and system.
- Strong communication skills - must be comfortable discussing complex financial matters to audiences with diverse levels
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.

- Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
- Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
- Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
