Job Title: Resource Center Coordinator II

Classification: Part-Time

Job Summary

Provide support to the Resource Center Program Manager in the delivery of Resource Center services, educational advocacy, parent support opportunities, and community outreach statewide. Assist families in navigating educational systems, accessing resources, and connecting with services while supporting the implementation of FUSE Family Fun Groups, support groups, trainings, and other Resource Center activities.

  • Must have lived experience as an adoptive parent.
  • Must be available during typical school hours to attend school meetings, communicate with school personnel, and provide advocacy support to families across Tennessee.
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations and differing opinions while remaining professional, collaborative, and student-centered.

Accountabilities

  • Reports to the Resource Center Program Manager and Director

Essential Functions:

Education Advocacy & Family Support

  • Assist families in understanding educational processes, school-based supports, and available community resources.
  • Provide resource linkage, peer support, and guidance to adoptive, guardianship, and foster families.
  • Support educational advocacy efforts by assisting with intake, documentation, record organization, and follow-up communication with families.
  • Attend educational meetings, including S-Team, 504, and IEP meetings, as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Assist families in identifying educational concerns and accessing appropriate supports and services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of advocacy activities and family contacts.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop educational resources, workshops, and training opportunities for families.

Resource Center Programming & Outreach

  • Assist with planning and coordinating Therapeutic Parenting Groups, adoption-focused support groups, and FUSE Family Fun Groups.
  • Support communication and relationship-building with community partners, schools, facilities, and event locations.
  • Assist with creating and distributing calendars, flyers, newsletters, and promotional materials for Resource Center activities.
  • Maintain program records using AMD, shared spreadsheets, Google Workspace, and other agency databases.
  • Engage with DCS personnel, schools, community organizations, and families to promote Resource Center services and educational advocacy supports.
  • Assist with Resource Center trainings, special events, outreach activities, and community presentations.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and program evaluation activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Director.

Other Duties

  • Participate in Harmony staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Represent Harmony Family Center professionally in community and educational settings.

Job Specifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required; in education, social work, psychology, human services, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Experience as a foster/adoptive parent (5 or more years preferred)
  • Experience working with children and families required.
  • Knowledge of special education, educational advocacy, trauma-informed practices, foster care, adoption, and permanency issues preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with families, educators, and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and web-based databases.
  • Position is home-office based.
  • Part-time schedule of approximately 20–25 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance, and valid driver's license required.
  • Must successfully complete all Harmony-required background checks.
