Job Title: Family Therapist

Program: ASAP (Part-Time)

Accountability: Program Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for providing a continuum of ASAP|GSAP services to children and families including prevention, education, support linkage, and individual and family counseling.

Job SpecificationsFamily and Individual Therapy

Clinically assess needs of the child and family

Provide and coordinate crisis and non-crisis intervention services to families by, among other things, contacting the family by telephone within two business days/48 hours of being assigned a new case and scheduling an in-home visit at the earliest convenience for the family

Provide individual and family therapy spanning 32 sessions or 365 days in the client’s home and/or another appropriate and mutually agreed upon location

Utilize evidence-based, trauma informed treatment modalities/approaches that are relevant and appropriate for work with families

Educate families on current clinical insights into parenting and adoption/guardianship issues

Clinical Case Management and Support

Participate in community meetings that are pertinent to the clients and families being served, e.g., M-Team, IEP, court hearings, adoption finalizations, etc.

Participate in CFTMs and maintain regular communication with DCS personnel as appropriate

Provide case management services to clients by providing referrals to community resources, advocacy for children & families, and assessment of family strengths, needs, and risk factors

Identify additional sources of assistance or connections for the individual/family and make appropriate referrals such as connecting families to FUSE events

Therapeutic Camps at Montvale

Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of Family & Day Camps including but not limited to the following: serving in work groups/committees/planning meetings, set-up and break-down of camp, facility management throughout such as dishes, trash, etc.

All Camps include the following: leading therapeutic groups, active participation and facilitation of camp activities including but not limited to low ropes and/or climbing tower, development of camp structure and design, maintain therapeutic supervision and safety of campers in attendance, and contribute to clinical service provision

Facilitate and support ASAP Family Camp offerings held at Montvale including referring families and completing intake paperwork for prospective camp attendees (as needed/requested by Program Manager)

Participates in Day Camp offerings (as needed/requested by Program Manager)

Additional Program Functions (*These tasks may vary by region and will be determined based on need and at the direction of Program Managers*)

Provide Adoption and Guardianship Preparation Training curriculum in group and/or home settings

Attend and facilitate activities at regional FUSE events

Facilitate outreach efforts with potential attendees and stakeholders

Assist in the marketing and community outreach through participation in presentations, trainings, and meetings

Other job responsibilities as assigned by Program Manager or negotiated to meet the needs of the agency

Administrative Functions

Responsible for maintaining DCS programming compliance with expectations outlinedin the state contract(s), and with the auditing arm of Finance and Administration and with COA standards

Adhere to Harmony policy regarding ethical and professional codes of conduct

Responsible for the timely submission of documentation into the EMR (Advanced MD), within operational guidelines

Responsible for travel to client homes, training locations, including but not limited to travel to the Harmony office, Montvale or other designated locations for team wide in-service meetings, trainings, All Staff gatherings, retreats, etc.

Participate in required virtual or in-person administrative and/or clinical ASAP and Harmony meetings

Participate in mandatory and sponsored trainings supporting compliance with COA standards and professional best practices

Job Specifications

Master’s Degree in Mental Health (MHC), Professional Counseling (PC), Social Work (MSSW), or equivalent

Two years of direct clinical experience with families and children in individual and group settings

A valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation isrequired

Ability to lift 10 pounds

Must clear all Harmony required pre-employment background checks. No personnel shall be employed who have been convicted of any offense against another person.

The position is based from employee’s home office and is a maximum 29.5 hours of per week between Sunday to Saturday each week; no minimum number of hours are guaranteed per week. Flexible scheduling is required.

Position requires primarily afternoon and evening work; occasional weekend work may be required

Ability to use basic computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Google Docs and navigate Advanced MD database to document clinical and other activities in a timely manner

Willingness to improvise, adapt, and overcome challenging barriers to meeting the unique needs of each family, e.g., cultural issues, attachment issues, trauma,etc.

Ability and willingness to continue growth and education as well as acquire practice skills in themes pertinent to working with adoptive and guardianship families

Commitment to building positive working relationships with DCS and community stakeholders within designated service area

Ability to contribute to discussion in team meetings as appropriate

Ability to speak comfortably and confidently before small and large groups

Experience working with individual clients as well as the family system

Excellent communication skills and the ability to create rapport

Ability to use creative thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to multi-task and work independently

Ability to contribute to discussion in team meetings and other groups.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
