## Overview
Harmony Arts is seeking a an enthusiastic K - 12th grade Instructor to join our team. The ideal cooking instructor will have a proven ability to instruct students and facilitate a safe classroom- with a strong background in the relevant arts. Weekly program learning objectives and recipes are provided, as well as an equipment wagon. Instructor is responsible for sourcing materials and perishables for conducting class week to week.
## Proposed Schedule:
- Tuesdays 10:30a - 2:30p in Fountain Valley (92708)
- Wednesdays 12:30p - 4:15p in Whittier (90602)
## Responsibilities
- Instruction: Teach a variety of cooking techniques and kitchen skills, emphasizing nutrition and healthy meal preparation, tailored to the age and skill levels of the students.
- Student Engagement: Foster a fun and motivating atmosphere, encouraging creativity, self-expression, and confidence as students explore nutritious recipes and cooking projects.
- Classroom Management: Establish and enforce positive behavior expectations, promoting respect, teamwork, and cooperation among students to effectively manage the class. Most importantly, managing class control as it pertains to safety around cooking equipment.
- Class Planning: Facilitate lesson plans that outline objectives, activities, safety protocols, and progress for each week, ensuring students remain engaged and inspired in learning about food and cooking.
- Supervision and Safety: Maintain a safe and supportive environment during all cooking activities, closely supervising students to prevent accidents and injuries while using kitchen tools and equipment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other teachers and staff on campus to coordinate activities and ensure alignment with overall program goals related to health and wellness.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with coordinator regarding student development, class activities, and any concerns
- Materials Management: Ensure that all cooking supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment are safe, well-maintained, and organized for efficient use during classes.
## Skills
- Background in professional food prep / kitchen skills / nutrition
- Ability to manage classroom and facilitate engaging curriculum for K - 12th
## Requirement:
- Background check & subject to Live Scan.
Beginning of year/End of the year performance based teaching bonus offered to our teachers would generally cover the cost of livescan.
