Accounting Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this position is to support company operations by ensuring excellent oversight, customer service and maximum productivity in the areas of accounts payable, general accounting, and accounts receivable. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure excellent customer service for general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Make certain all general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable reporting deadlines are met
• Prepare department reports and oversee quarter-end inventory accounting
• Ensure accurate and timely quarterly and year end close processes for general accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
• Resolve any accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
• Communicate openly, effectively and frequently with the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Accounting team creating a positive team environment as a supervisor
• Manage projects for accounting team and implement new processes and systems working with IT Department to gain efficiencies while maintaining sound controls as needed to ensure the success of the company as a whole
• Perform backup duties Property Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Accounting

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

• Consistent and daily interaction with Support Office and store associates
• Consistent and daily interaction with customers and vendors

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required or equivalent Accounting experience. 5 years’ experience in management or administrative supervision. 2 years of Oracle and Quickbooks experience preferred.  3-5 years accounting experience is required.  Knowledge of accounting procedures, experience with creating journal entries and reconciling accounts, knowledge of administration skills, experience with accounts payable functions and the month-end/year-end close process preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Proficient organization, communication and planning skills
• Must be detail orientated
• Must be proficient with typing and 10-key
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, balance friendliness with efficiency and maintain focus
• Ability to represent Harmons in a professional manner
• A good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Specifically Excel
• Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with diverse groups of people
• Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries.  Also requires walking, bending and sitting for long periods of time. This position may require occasionally moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
