Job description:
Located in the heart of Evans, Ga, we are a growing Dermatology practice looking to expand our team. We are looking for friendly, dependable, goal oriented, professionals that are passionate about patient care and serving our community. As a Medical Front Office Assistant, you will have direct contact with patients and their families, as well as daily interaction with our providers in all aspects of our medical practice. The ideal candidate is compassionate, motivated, detail oriented, responsible, well spoken, able to easily take direction, accept feedback in a positive manner, and has the ability to maintain these characteristics without feeling overwhelmed.
This is a full-time position- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5pm. Please keep in mind we are here to serve our patients, some deviation from these hours may be needed from time to time in order for us to deliver the high level of care and service we offer to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls, including scheduling, patient questions, and message routing
- Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts
- Manage and follow up on denied or rejected claims, including appeals and resubmissions
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and discrepancies
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, answering inquiries promptly and directing calls appropriately.
- Assist in medical billing processes by collecting payments and following up on outstanding balances.
- Process patient payments and set up payment plans as needed
- Maintain, organize, and update patient medical records in electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems
- Process medical records requests, including releasing records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verify referral requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on phone etiquette
- Knowledge of health information management practices and HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy.
- Previous medical office experience
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks.
- Experience handling insurance denials and claims follow-up
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
