Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to support diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, positioning them appropriately, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Perform clinical tasks including administering medications, collecting specimens for lab testing, and assisting with basic procedures like X-ray imaging or wound care.
- Support hospital medicine teams by managing inpatient documentation, ICD coding for diagnoses, and coordinating care activities within Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols; assist with emergency response procedures in urgent or trauma situations.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, addressing concerns promptly, and ensuring a positive experience from check-in to discharge.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings; familiarity with dermatology, emergency medicine, or ICU environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent; additional certifications related to X-ray operation or emergency medicine are advantageous.
- Strong skills in patient service with excellent communication abilities; capable of managing intake procedures efficiently while demonstrating empathy.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; familiarity with hospital processes including inpatient care and Level I/II trauma center operations.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, specimen collection, medication support, and basic X-ray procedures accurately.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments like urgent care clinics or hospital units serving geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), or medical-surgical patients.
