Duties
- Measure, cut, and install insulation materials using hand tools and power tools to ensure precise fitting and optimal thermal performance
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to determine insulation requirements and installation procedures
- Prepare work sites by cleaning surfaces, framing areas, and applying caulking or sealing techniques to ensure proper insulation adhesion
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, roofers, HVAC technicians, and other trades to coordinate installation activities on-site
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot installation issues and modify insulation setups as needed for complex projects
- Apply finishing techniques such as plastering, stucco, or painting to achieve a clean, professional appearance of insulated surfaces
- Maintain safety standards by using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to OSHA guidelines, and inspecting tools and materials regularly
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools (e.g., knives, tape measures, screwdrivers) and power tools (e.g., drills, saws) for efficient installation work
- Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings related to construction projects
- Experience with various insulation types including fiberglass, spray foam, foam board, mineral wool, or cellulose
- Knowledge of construction estimating processes for material needs and project timelines
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding HVAC systems, metal stud framing, drywall finishing, and masonry techniques
- Familiarity with fabrication processes for custom insulation solutions or modifications on-site
- Skills in construction painting, trim carpentry, roofing details, concrete finishing, or airless paint spraying are a plus but not required
