Harlen Construction Company is seeking a Construction Estimator to support our general contracting, construction management, and steel building projects.

This position focuses primarily on estimating, with involvement in preconstruction planning. You’ll work directly with the owner to develop pricing, coordinate subcontractor bids, and help prepare projects for construction.

We welcome experienced estimators who can manage the estimating process independently, as well as candidates with a solid foundation who are ready to grow. Responsibilities and compensation will reflect experience and capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost estimates.
• Solicit and organize subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Compare proposals and clarify scope coverage, exclusions, and missing items.
• Prepare bid packages, proposals, and project budgets.
• Assist with early project budgets and evaluate pricing options as plans develop.
• Help identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and long-lead materials before construction.
• Coordinate project information for handoff to the construction team.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Experience with estimating, takeoffs, or construction pricing.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Clear communication with subcontractors, suppliers, and coworkers.
• Comfort working with spreadsheets and learning estimating software.
• Commercial construction or pre-engineered metal building experience is a plus.

Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
