What are the responsibilities and job description for the Norterra BackLot - Host position at Harkins Theatres?
The Host’s primary responsibility is providing an elevated guest experience by greeting, seating and preparing guests for their dining experience. They are the first point of contact in the Ultimate Dining experience.
Essential Functions
- Greet guests and make them feel comfortable by establishing a personal connection.
- Communicate promptly, courteously, and effectively with all guests, management, and fellow team members.
- Be knowledgeable about the BackLot brand and items sold to be able to answer questions and make recommendations.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and follow operating checklists.
- Organize and seat guests in a fair and consistent fashion.
- Maintain the table management program with reservations and walk ins.
- Answer and take orders over the phone. Deliver pick-up/to go orders.
- Monitor guests for safety including signs of intoxication and report to management.
- Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects and tasks with frequent interruptions while maintaining flexibility and composure
Additional Duties
- Regular attendance and physical presence at the work site.
- Stay informed of daily operations, special events, promotions, and updated policies/procedures.
- Clean menus and roll utensils as needed.
- Assist the runners with clearing tables.
- Assist the servers with delivering items.
- Assist the team with additional tasks and/or special projects, as assigned.
- Requires bending, stretching, reaching, squatting, twisting, standing, walking up and down stairs and on flat surfaces, lifting (up to 50 pounds), interacting with guests and employees, problem solving, and cognitive skills.
Education/Skills/Experience
- Required to be at least 16 years of age.
- Required to obtain and maintain a current food handler’s card and/or food safety certification.
- Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace and possess basic math skills, and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, loud environment, with multiple flashing lights, while in a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Capable of remaining calm and using good judgment in all situations.
- A professional image with an increased attention to detail, well organized and a desire to serve guests and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
