What You'll Be Doing

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 15 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.

Primary Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To
- Provide on demand checking services (0 – 60 hours a week) for a year.
- Execute independent design verification (checking) for retrofit and major capital initiatives across multiple plants within the fleet.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Southern Company standards, industry codes, and project requirements.
- Prepare, review, and update detailed electrical design drawings, including: One-line diagrams, Elementary and control schematics, Wiring diagrams, Equipment layouts and installation details
- Verify as-built documentation for projects implemented by: SCS Technical Field Service, Plant personnel, SCS Electrical Design
- Review vendor drawings and data to: Confirm electrical and physical interface requirements, Extract dimensions and technical information for layout and design development
- Check material take-offs (MTOs) to support procurement and construction activities.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, including plant engineering, construction, vendors, and other engineering disciplines, to resolve technical issues.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to apply detailed knowledge of electrical design principals & requirements.
- Perform field verification.
- Experience with new construction or industrial facilities.
- Work with a team and independently.
- Hands-on experience with design or maintenance of: DC power and battery systems, Medium- and low-voltage switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Power panels and distribution systems, Protection and control systems (relays, PLCs), Lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and heat tracing
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
