| Job Description | The Instructional Aide reinforces instruction to individuals or small group of students in either in a face-to-face and online environment; assists in the preparation of appropriate classroom material and implementation of targeted lessons/assignments of active students in the College's Adult Development and Literacy Education programs. Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position. Your application to this position will remain active to December 31 of the current year. If you are not selected by that time, you must re-apply in order to be considered. If you apply on or after November 1 of the current year, your application will remain active to December 31 of the following calendar year. |
| Required Education | High school diploma or GED. |
| Required Experience | One year of related experience, including experience working with diverse populations, to include disadvantaged adults, non-native speakers of English, and/or at-risk youth |
| Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities | Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse populations. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Associate's degree or certificate preferred. Adult education, tutoring, or teaching experience preferred. |
| General Weekly Work Schedule | Work schedule varies based on the needs of the department, and will be determined by the supervisor. The hours of part-time, as-needed employees are limited to a total of less than 500 hours in each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). |
