Position Summary
The Swing-Shift Lamination Panel Cell Millworker supports laminated panel production and related millwork operations in Departments C & D. This role operates within a continuous improvement–focused manufacturing environment, where employees are encouraged to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and teamwork through ongoing learning and process improvement. This position includes machine off‑bearing, panel lamination, lumber tallying, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sander Off-Bearer
- Off-bear lumber behind the sander
- Rack and stack lumber properly
- Identify sanding belt issues affecting surface quality
- Change sander belts under direction of the planer operator
- Maintain cleanliness of the area behind the sander
- Learn full operation of the sander and millwork processes
Lumber Tallying
- Accurately use tally sticks for piece counts
- Complete tally cards and customer work orders
- Perform board foot calculations
- Identify and deduct defects such as splits during tallying
Rip Saw Off-Bearer
- Off-bear behind rip saw
- Rack and stack lumber
- Identify dimensional issues
- Change arbor and shoes under operator direction
- Assist with production tallies
- Maintain cleanliness of saw area
- Learn full rip saw and millwork operations
Chop Saw / Opti-Chop (S-90 & S-200)
- Follow all safety procedures at all times
- Set up and cut various lumber lengths
- Identify dimensional defects
- Label and tally lumber accurately
- Keep saw area clean and organized
Dust Collection
- Empty dust bins and containers safely
- Wear required PPE (safety glasses, dust masks)
- Empty dust collector into truck
- Use horn to loosen compacted dust
Panel Lamination (Taylor Clamp Rack)
- Load and unload glued panels
- Adjust clamping pressure based on wood species
- Align staves to minimize bowing and cupping
General Millwork Duties
- Operate hand banding machines and band chopper
- Operate forklifts safely
- Understand complete order flow
- Stack lumber to standard unit widths with proper sticker placement
- Follow all required safety practices
- Perform limited operation of millwork machinery
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Knowledge of millwork and warehouse equipment or ability to learn
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide; calculate board footage)
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate job-related information in English
- Ability to use computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to safely operate a forklift (training provided as needed)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Use hands and arms to handle materials and operate equipment
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
