Seasonal Farm Assistant

Hardware Sustainable Gastropub is looking for a part-time seasonal assistant for the 2026 growing season. Mid May- End of Aug/Beginning of Sept. M, W, F 8am to 12pm. Someone who loves plants, nature, and working with their hands. Enjoys nurturing something from beginning to end, and being a part of a team to deliver high quality produce to the restaurant and help upkeep and maintain the high standards of the beautifully diverse gardens and landscaping of the property.

Main Duties will include

• Assisting and supporting Farm Manager in a variety of aspects of organically growing micros and salad greens in a greenhouse attached to the restaurant, along with outside garden areas of various seasonal crops, herbs, fruit bearing trees and bushes, and hops field.
• Emptying and Filling soil trays for Greenhouse production
• Pruning, Trellising, and Harvesting tomatoes
• Assisting in maintaining the aesthetic of the landscape and fields around the property.
• Watering outside garden plots as needed with various irrigation methods.
• Washing Lettuce.
• Transplanting by hand plant starts for the field.
• Maintaining construction of raised beds and continuing to build soil health.
• Harvesting a variety of produce from the outside garden plots, herbs, fruit bushes and hops.
• Weeding, using various hand tools in garden plots, herb boxes, and landscape around the restaurant and property.
• Post Harvest Production of various crops.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of greenhouse and farm, tools used, and post-harvest production.
• Help with installation and maintenance of irrigation systems and trellising systems.

Required Skills and Expectations

• Previous experience in either farming, landscaping or growing plants.
• Knowledge of how to use basic tools.
• Must be reliable and timely.
• Great multitasking abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent time management and strong attention to detail.
• Good organizational, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Capable of taking instruction and following through.
• Willing to acquire necessary skills and knowledge to carry out the responsibilities of the position and to listen carefully and follow instructions when engaging new work.
• Willingness to work alone and ability to self-direct and manage when the tasks demands it or with any team member to accomplish projects as well as any company goals.
• Speed, efficiency, precision, observation, proficient problem solving, flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances are key characteristics of position.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Capacity to stand for long periods of time. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, lifting, bending, walking, pivoting, raking, and shoveling are all expected activities.
• Job will require physical repetitive motions.
• Sincere desire to do physical work outside even when weather is less than desirable (i.e., hot, humid, raining, etc.) the right gear is key.
• Maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment.
• Flexbility around schedule depending upon weather.
• With advance notice may need to work a weekend day to cover.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
