What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineering Co-Op (Fall 2026) position at Hardware FYI?
Design, model, and detail components and assemblies for AMRs and supporting accessories using Creo/Windchill and SolidWorks.
Evaluate designs for strength and stiffness using hand calculations, FEA, and other analytical methods.
Develop components optimized for high-volume, cost-effective manufacturing.
Partner with operations, manufacturing, and procurement teams to improve assembly efficiency and meet production timelines.
Collaborate with suppliers to define competitive manufacturing strategies.
Support prototyping efforts, including machining, 3D printing, and rapid iteration processes.
Assist in developing and executing validation and test plans.
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Academic or hands-on experience in robotics, mechanical, or electromechanical design.
Experience designing for manufacturability (machined parts, sheet metal, castings, thermoplastics).
Familiarity with CAD tools such as Creo, Windchill, or SolidWorks.
Understanding of engineering fundamentals, including stress analysis and basic FEA.
Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with teams and interact with customers.
