Role Description This full-time, on-site Special Education Teacher role is based at Harding University High School in Charlotte, NC. The Special Education Teacher will design and deliver individualized instruction for students with disabilities, aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and school curriculum. Responsibilities include assessing student needs, developing appropriate accommodations and modifications, and collaborating with general education teachers to support inclusion in middle and high school classrooms. The role involves frequent communication with families, related service providers, and support staff to monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed. The Special Education Teacher will also maintain accurate documentation, participate in IEP meetings, and adhere to all district and state regulations related to special education services.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities and Special Education practices, including IEP development and implementation.
- Strong Teaching skills with experience supporting students in middle school and/or high school settings.
- Effective Communication skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Valid state teaching license or eligibility for Special Education certification in North Carolina.
- Experience with differentiated instruction, behavioral support strategies, and progress monitoring tools.
- Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and maintaining a positive, supportive classroom climate.
