What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Nurse Assistant/Teacher Assistant position at Hardin Park Elementary School?
Individual will work to support both the health and educational needs of students. This role will provide essential health-related services under the supervision of the school nurse and assists teachers in creating a safe, supportive, and effective classroom environment. Services will be provided to students in the classroom, health room, playground, and other school or related settings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant in North Carolina required.
- Must hold or be able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certification.
- Previous experience working with children, especially those with medical or special needs preferred.
- Must be able to lift/move students and use assistive devices in a safe manner.
- Must have strong oral and written communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Committment to student safety, dignity, and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care & hygiene needs of students as directed bythe school nurse or other health professionals.
- Support students with physical disabilities and/or medical needs in the classroom, restroom, cafeteria, and other school or related settings.
- Administer first aid and medication (as authorized and under supervision).
- Monitor and document health-related services provided to students.
- Support mobility or positioning of students using medical equipment (i.e. wheelchairs, lfts).
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA & FERPA guidelines.
- Individual will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support instructional activities.
- Assist with classroom management & supervision of students.
- Provide individual and/or small-group support to students, includeing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional assistance.
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and maintain a clean, organized classroom.
- Supervision of students in non-classroom settings such as lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal times.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes student growth and independence.
Position begins August 11, 2026. State Salary Scale based on experience with full benefits.
