CNC Optical Fabrication Technician – Swing Shift

Hardin Optical is seeking a CNC Optical Fabrication Technician to join our production team in Bandon, Oregon. This is an entry-level opportunity with on-the-job training provided. Previous CNC machining/programming or manufacturing experience is a strong plus but is not required.

This position will initially train on day shift before transitioning to swing shift. Once assigned to swing shift, the employee will receive the applicable shift differential.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 p.m.–1:30 a.m.

What You’ll Do

• Operate CNC and other optical fabrication equipment used to generate, grind, polish, and finish precision optical components.
• Perform routine mechanical and electronic adjustments and alignments on assigned machinery.
• Follow established work instructions, production processes, and quality requirements.
• Read and follow drawings, specifications, geometric dimensions, and tolerances.
• Use inspection equipment, measuring devices, and basic optical metrology equipment to verify product quality.
• Accurately document production and inspection results.
• Assist with maintaining production schedules and meeting quality and delivery expectations.
• Identify and communicate equipment, process, or quality concerns.
• Participate in continuous-improvement and lean-manufacturing initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Support the company’s core values, growth strategy, and Quality Management System.
• Cross-train in other optical manufacturing processes, which may include Diamond Turning and plano or spherical polishing.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNC machining, manufacturing, mechanical, or technical experience is strongly preferred.
• CNC Programming experience highly preferred.
• Ability to learn precision manufacturing processes and operate specialized equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and established procedures.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Dependable attendance and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to train on day shift before transitioning to the swing-shift schedule.
• Ability to work with small, delicate components while maintaining accuracy and quality.
