What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Plate Burn Table and Dragon CNC Operators position at Hardhat Workforce Solutions?
We are looking for Burn Table and Dragon CNC Machine Operators for automated cutting, profiling, and marking of round, square, or rectangular tubes and pipes in the Sanford area. This position is located in a large plant-type facility. Have six or more years of verifiable experience for long term work in the area. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC multi-torch burn tables (ox-fuel/plasma) and Dragon plasma tube/pipe profiling machines.
- Load and unload heavy raw materials, including structural steel pipes, tubes, and large plates, utilizing overhead cranes, forklifts, or material staging racks.
- Align and secure materials accurately on the cutting beds, adjusting chucks, rollers, and torch heights to match material specifications.
- Monitor the cutting process continuously to identify erratic torch behavior, gas pressure drops, or mechanical issues, pausing and adjusting parameters on the fly.
- Review and interpret blueprints, structural shop drawings, and welding symbols to plan layout and execution sequences.
- Import and nest parts files using specialized fabrication software (such as Bend-Tech for the Dragon or ProNest for the burn table) to maximize material yield and minimize scrap.
- Select appropriate cutting parameters, including torch speeds, gas pressures, feed rates, and consumables (nozzles, shields, electrodes) based on material type and thickness.
- Perform minor G-code edits or machine overrides at the console to correct paths, entry points, or lead-ins/lead-outs.
- At least 6 years of related commercial experience.
