Harcum College, a progressive, independent, associate degree granting college in Bryn Mawr, PA, has an immediate opening for a Dental Hygiene Clinic Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Dental Hygiene Clinic Director (Full-Time 12 month faculty
position). The Clinic Director provides leadership and oversight of the operations, staffing and
supplies of the dental clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities are described in order of anticipated time investment. These
responsibilities may be delegated in and/or addressed in conjunction with other members of the
team, with the agreement of the Program Director.
- Clinical Facility Operation
- Supervision of clinical facility operation
- Ongoing assessment and reporting on the needs of the facility (instructors, staff,
supplies, equipment, etc.)
- Coordinate maintenance, repair and replacement of equipment and tools in
conjuncture with the Program Director, staff and if appropriate with the office of
College Advancement
- Prepare and communicate the Clinic schedule and materials
- Maintain and update the Clinical policies, manual and procedures
- Liaison with Extended Clinical Rotation Facilities
- Prepare affiliation contracts
- Meet with site coordinators, as necessary
- Work closely with Clinic Coordinators to ensure all stated policies and procedures
are implemented at all sites
- Licensing Examinations
- Clinical liaison with Organizations administering Licensure Examinations
- Assist students in preparation for clinical licensing examinations
- Assist in the administration of clinical licensure examination
Clinical Faculty Coordination
- Orient and mentor new clinical dental hygiene faculty.
- Plan faculty clinical development and calibration sessions in conjunction with
first year and second year clinic coordinators and Program Director.
- Provides guidance and leadership for the following positions:
- Radiation Coordinator
- First Year Coordinator
- Second Year Coordinator.
- The Dental Facilities Coordinator reports to the dental programs Program
Directors and works closely with the Clinical Manager.
- Program Support
- Accreditation: Participate in drafting of accreditation reports and review of
programmatic compliance with current accreditation requirements.
- Budget: Contribute clinic information that pertains to budget planning Clinical
- Orientation: Create and provide an onboarding and orientation program for new
adjuncts and faculty. Mentoring of new clinical faculty. Conduct an assessment
of the program to provide feedback on recommended changes.
- Collect all data for formulation of clinical schedule; dates, number of students,
rotations
- Preparation of clinic schedule parameters and development of student rotation
schedule
- Communicate with rotation supervisors throughout semester
- Student Activities / Professional Liaison
- Liaison with Dental Hygiene Professional Organizations
- Work with various student organizations (SADHA, Sigma Phi Alpha, etc.)
- Oversee events
- Teaching Responsibilities
- Teaching responsibilities are limited and will be determined on the basis of time
available after key responsibilities are addressed.
Qualifications/Skills:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Dental Hygiene license in Pennsylvania (active)
- Professional Dental Hygienist experience
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
- Educator experience preferred
