POSITION: Laborer
REPORTS TO: Location Supervisor/Manager
JOB TYPE: Full-Time
JOB SUMMARY: The Laborer is responsible for removing debris from railcars using hand tools and gasoline-operated blowers. This position may also include performing minor inspections as needed, in accordance with AAR, FRA, railroad rules, company policies, and safety procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Remove debris from railcars using designated tools and equipment.
- Conduct minor inspections in compliance with AAR, FRA, and company policies.
- Ensure adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Operate gasoline-powered blowers and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.
- Assist team members as needed to meet operational goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, grip, reach, kneel, bend, and stoop frequently.
- Work is primarily conducted outdoors in various weather conditions.
Lifting/Carrying:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Assistance is available for heavier lifting as needed.
Work Hours:
- Day shift; may require evening and/or weekend work.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Equipment Requirements:
- Must be able to operate gasoline-powered blowers and hand tools safely.
Education and Experience:
- Maintenance experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic problem-solving and organizational skills.
Language and Reasoning Skills:
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English fluently and professionally.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work environment with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols while working in an active railyard.
Vision/Hearing/Speaking Requirements:
- Must have sufficient vision to observe areas needing attention.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and environmental sounds.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

- Full-time employees are eligible for health plan benefits starting the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
