Salary: $18.50/hour

Our services include emergency shelter, court injunctions, and a domestic abuse hotline.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CRISIS LINE ADVOCATE
As a Domestic Violence Crisis Line Advocate, you will:
- Provide advocacy, support, crisis intervention, safety planning, and lethality assessments to survivors who call the Harbor House crisis line.
- Answer the crisis line during assigned shifts to assess the safety needs of the caller and provide immediate safety planning as necessary (80% of the time).
- Provide crisis intervention, information, and referrals.
- Problem-solve with survivors of domestic violence and offer appropriate feedback.
- Assist in the development of current and applicable crisis line resources and information (5% of the time).
- Record and compile statistical data in the agency database on clients and services to be submitted to the Shelter Services Manager (5% of the time).
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CRISIS LINE ADVOCATE
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field. Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a domestic violence program.
- Must attend a 3-day training to become CORE certified prior to working with survivors.
- Valid Florida driver's license and insurable driving record.
