As a Title Officer, you’ll be a key player in our residential title team, responsible for performing thorough title research, producing accurate commitments based on attorney opinions, and ensuring all title issues are resolved prior to closing.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Researching Title History: Conduct in-depth title searches using public records and prior title policies to identify liens, encumbrances, easements, and ownership details.
- Producing Title Commitments: Create title commitments based on legal opinions and attorney guidance, ensuring accuracy and completeness in line with underwriting standards.
- Revising Commitments Prior to Closing: Review and update commitments as needed based on cleared items, resolved issues, or attorney instructions to ensure all documents are ready for a smooth closing.
- Issue Final Policies: After closing, verify and confirm all title requirements have been met. Accurately prepare and issue final title insurance policies in compliance with underwriter and HCT standards.
- Resolve Title Issues: Identify and help resolve title issues in collaboration with attorneys, underwriters, and escrow personnel.
- Collaborating with Stakeholders: Work closely with attorneys, underwriters, escrow officers, lenders, and real estate professionals to address title issues and support a seamless transaction.
- Ensuring Compliance: Maintain a high level of accuracy and compliance with industry regulations, internal procedures, and underwriter requirements.
What We're Looking For:
- 2–5 years of experience in residential title or title insurance
- Strong understanding of title commitments, final policies, legal descriptions, and property records
- Familiarity with title production software, SoftPro is a plus
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
