Why Harbor

At Harbor, we believe that great outcomes come from great people — individuals who are curious, committed, and care deeply about doing meaningful work. We’re proud to foster an environment where every voice is heard, every idea is valued, and every team member has opportunities to learn and grow.

We’re driven by integrity, collaboration, and innovation — and we know that diverse teams make stronger decisions and build deeper connections with clients. If you’re someone who thrives in a supportive yet performance-oriented environment, and you’re excited to contribute to something larger than yourself, Harbor may be the place for you.

Summary

The Business Development Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting Harbor’s growth and expanding our presence in the marketplace. This individual contributes to building strong client connections, driving operational excellence, and supporting communication efforts that help our Regional Investment Consultants deepen engagement with financial advisors across Broker Dealers, RIAs, Bank Trusts, and Regional Consultants.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing data, improving processes, and collaborating across teams to achieve meaningful business outcomes. The analyst will work closely with the Head of Internal Sales, territory-based Regional Investment Consultants, Key Accounts Managers, Marketing, Product, and Distribution Intelligence teams to help bring Harbor’s investment solutions to clients effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Business Development team to identify market opportunities and execute tactical plans that drive territory growth through both digital and personal engagement.
  • This role involves frequent client outreach and follow-up by phone — a core part of how we build trusted relationships, uncover opportunities, and bring value to advisors. You’ll gain confidence, communication agility, and a deep understanding of the market through these direct interactions.
  • Analyze data and performance metrics to ensure territories are on track to achieve key objectives, such as advisor growth, net new sales, and gross sales.
  • Collaborate with the Data Enablement team to identify advisor segments, execute marketing strategies, and test data-driven sales approaches.
  • Recommend actions based on insights, best practices, and emerging trends to improve overall business development performance.
  • Support the creation and delivery of territory-specific marketing and sales plans, including list generation for ETF launches, website registrations, and follow-up campaigns.

Key Behavioral Expectations

  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-changing environment and adjusts easily to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Results Orientation: Approaches goals with focus, determination, and follow-through.
  • Communication: Shares information proactively and engages with empathy and confidence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field).
  • 0–3 years of experience in financial services or a related industry.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 required (or obtained within a defined timeframe upon hire).
  • Availability to work from the Chicago headquarters office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • This is a dynamic, client-facing role that blends data analysis with consistent advisor outreach — ideal for someone energized by fast-paced engagement and measurable progress.
  • Comfortable with technology and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with entrepreneurial drive and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team member with a growth-oriented attitude and openness to learning.
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred, but not required.

Compensation Pay Range: This position offers a competitive base salary range of $75,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

In addition to base salary, the role is eligible for both a sales-based performance bonus and a firmwide annual bonus - reflecting individual achievement and Harbor’s collective success.

We believe in rewarding strong performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As part of a growth-oriented organization, team members have the opportunity to develop professionally and expand their impact over time. Top performers in this role can see meaningful bonus potential tied to business growth, client engagement, and overall team results.
