What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Telehealth position at Harbor Brand?
Harbor is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our telehealth team!
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
Education/Experience/Other Requirements:
- Must be a licensed CNP and have an active DEA license in Ohio and in the state in which the practitioner will be working from.
- Prior telehealth experience preferred.
- Must have an appropriate workspace for privacy and professionalism, and model appropriate behavior, dress, punctuality, workspace lighting, workspace security, audio and visual awareness for telehealth sessions.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with a variety of audiences, and willing to represent the organization within the medical/health-care community.
- Must be proficient and accurate in computer use.
- Minimum Internet Service Requirements: Minimum upload of 5 mbps; minimum download of 10 mbps per user of the dedicated Internet. Internet services provider must be cable or fiber. DSL, satellite and cellular providers are not permitted. Business class preferred. Ability to connect your Harbor provided computer/equipment directly to your modem or router with an ethernet cable (not wireless).
Essential Job Competencies/Performance Expectations:
- Responsible, in a collaborative practice model with supervising physician, nursing staff, and other staff for the medication management of assigned clients.
- Conducts psychiatric/medication evaluations, medication reviews and ongoing treatment for clients.
- Prescribes medications as indicated and appropriate within the scope of her/his practice. Sends prescriptions in a timely manner per protocol.
- Ensures appropriate hospitalizations (voluntary and involuntary) of her/his clients as indicated and Harbor clients if required.
- Responsive to emergency situations as appropriate.
- Responsible for accurate and timely documentation including psychiatric assessment, med/somatic progress notes and treatment plans, medication orders, and other paperwork associated with psychiatric care.
- Types clinical documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor.
- Utilizes EHR and other technologies, including but not limited to, self-typing, voice recognition, e-prescribing, etc. as appropriate and acceptable to Harbor.
- In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
- Consults with clinical staff regarding treatment issues as appropriate. Signs and co-signs appropriate billing documents and treatment plans.
- Participates actively in Medical Services Team meetings.
- Supports the development and growth of telehealth division for Harbor. Provides consultation and education to internal and external customers as appropriate.
- Utilizes video software to allow for interactive two-way communication with clients, as per
- Uses assigned video software as per policy.
- Assess client’s technological, cognitive and communication capacities to participate in telehealth services, including the client’s access to equipment, connectivity, secure locations for treatment sessions and reading level.
- Prepare/orient clients to the technology needed for telehealth services in order to ensure that functional hardware and software are working and provide ongoing technical assistance as needed to troubleshoot/respond to technology related issues if required.
- Adapt evaluation and intervention techniques to create a welcoming and distraction free environment in a virtual setting.
- Adapt communication skills to virtual environment by setting pace of verbal information exchange, paying attention to voice projection, facial expressions and body language, and implementing operational practices as needed to enhance communication and rapport building.
