A Community Engagement Staff focuses on fostering inclusion, independence, and social connections for individuals with disabilities through community-based activities and support services. Staff are responsible for accompanying clients to scheduled activities throughout the week, encouraging active participation in these activities, and promoting positive interactions with others in the community.
Key Responsibilities include:
Community Integration:

Assist adults with disabilities in participating in community activities such as
volunteering, attending social events, and joining interest-based clubs. - Use public transportation when it supports client goals.
Support and Advocacy:

Provide one-on-one support to help individuals navigate community resources,
advocate for their needs and build meaningful relationships.
Program Coordination:

Plan and facilitate community events, workshops, and social gatherings that promote
inclusion and engagement. This may involve collaborating with local organizations and
volunteers.
Resource Connection:

Connect individuals to local services, educational opportunities, and recreational
activities that align with their interests and goals. Communicate clearly with clients and
team members.
Staff Expectations:

Staff are expected to attend all scheduled meetings and required trainings, adhere to
agency policies and procedures, and complete tasks assigned by the Community
Engagement Manager or their designee.

Additionally, staff are responsible for independently obtaining 12 CEU training hours
each calendar year to support ongoing professional development.

Qualifications include:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Washington State driver’s license with state minimum liability insurance
- Good driving record
- Working vehicle for transporting clients
- Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Work experience requirements
- Previous experience working with people with developmental disabilities (preferred two years minimum).
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to socialize appropriately in new environments with a variety of people
- Successfully complete a background check through DSHS as required (every two years)
- Demonstrate the ability to be a good role model
- Exhibit mature behavior and have the ability to make independent judgments
- Have good oral and written communication skills.
- Have good listening skills
- Be able to work alone
- Always speak to Clients with respect and dignity
- Successfully pass pre-employment and random drug screening thereafter
- Be accountable for each unit of your time
- Maintain Client confidentiality

- Be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 per proclamation 20-15 prior to employment
