The Safety Technician is responsible for outlining and insuring compliance with occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and corporate policies and programs through training exercises. Responsibilities
- Ensuring facility is in compliance with OSHA standards and coordinates all aspect of the Plant Safety and Health Program; Responsible for facility compliance in safety and environmental areas.
- Investigating, tracking and conducting audits on near misses/observations; Interpreting gaps in training and safety culture; Communicating findings and trends; Conducting training sessions to improve trends
- Completing monthly inspection audits on equipment and all safety related areas to verify compliance with EHS regulatory and corporate requirements
- Completing and monitoring Title 5 daily reports
- Updating written safe job procedures and hazard assessments
- Promoting safety awareness by facilitating monthly safety meetings
- Assisting/advising facilities regarding workers’ compensation/accident investigation related issues
- Coordinating testing for employee’s regarding safety related topics and/or conducts industrial hygiene monitoring and medical surveillance programs
- The Safety Technician requires five (5) plus years of industrial/manufacturing safety experience with a general knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Requires high school diploma
- Requires computer operation skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Requires understanding and ability to interpret reliability metrics
- Requires knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and workers’ compensation regulations and practices
- Requires knowledge and skills in environmental safety requirements
- Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time speaking/hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time standing, walking, sitting and using hands/fingers to handle and/or feel; and less than 1/3 of time reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Lifting: Requires lifting up to 25 pounds more than 2/3 of the time and up to 50 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of the time in an office setting or working near moving mechanical parts; and less than 1/3 of the time working in wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and/or in extreme heat/cold.
- Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise.
