Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission across over-the-road (OTR), regional, and local routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Transport various types of flatbed freight without hazardous materials (hazmat) or any types of dangerous goods .
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or truck loading equipment while ensuring cargo safety and security during transit.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption and route planning.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues encountered on the route.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license; familiarity with manual transmission trucks preferred.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling, load & unload procedures, and truck loading/unloading safety protocols.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT requirements.
- Skilled in route driving using GPS navigation tools to ensure timely deliveries across diverse geographic locations.
- Experience operating flatbed trailers or specialized equipment such as heavy haul trailers is a plus.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; ability to handle long hours on the road confidently and responsibly.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely when loading or unloading freight; physically capable of managing heavy or bulky cargo.
