303.64 – Job Description – Facility Maintenance Technician

Position Reports to:   Truss Plant General Manager

General Function: It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement and Statement of Values while adhering to the Company Code of Conduct.  The primary responsibility of this position is to repair and maintain machinery, basic plumbing, physical structure, and basic electrical wiring of the Company’s establishments.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance.
   1. Immediately repairing any unsafe equipment.
   2. Maintaining physical facilities including office, restrooms, canteen, plant area, fences and outlying buildings.
   3. Assisting special projects manager when required by supervisor.
   4. Regularly performing  scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance.
   5. Lawn care maintenance at locations.
2. Safety.
   1. Complying with all Company safety policies and procedures.
   2. Maintaining a clean, safe work area at all times.
   3. Ensuring the safety equipment is functioning properly before operating any equipment.
   4. Reporting all unsafe actions and equipment to the supervisor promptly.
   5. Responding promptly to all maintenance and safety concerns.
3. General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Facility Maintenance Technician must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all Company employees.

Physical Requirements:  Heavy lifting up to 75 pounds is required on a regular basis.  This position may require standing eight hours at a time with frequent bending and lifting. 

Safety Requirements: Must maintain a clean driving record. 

Working Conditions:   The work is in various facilities and sometimes outside with temperature extremes from the teens to the 90’s.

Some work may be required outside in hot, cold, and wet conditions.

Qualifications

Experience:   Experience in a facility/building maintenance or a related field is preferred.

Education: High school diploma required with additional technical education preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: The ability to operate numerous power tools such as drills, saws, etc. is required.  The ability to operate landscaping equipment including lawnmowers, weed eaters, chain saws, etc. is required.  Basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and building repair required.  The ability to operate construction and/or material handling equipment including scissor lifts, forklifts, skid steers, etc. is preferred.
