Used Car Service Technician 2nd Shift

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Used Car Service Technician to join our 2nd shift automotive service team. The 2nd shift lasts from 3pm - 11pm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, with a focus on used car inventory. You will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, performing necessary repairs and maintenance, and ensuring the overall quality and reliability of our used cars. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on used vehicles.
• Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.
• Identify and report any safety or performance issues to the Service Manager.
• Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, including engine diagnostics, transmission checks, and brake systems.
• Test drive vehicles to ensure proper functioning after repairs or maintenance.
• Maintain and update detailed service records for each vehicle worked on.
• Work closely with the service team to manage repair schedules and parts inventory.
• Ensure that all repairs meet manufacturer standards and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding service recommendations and repairs.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification from an accredited automotive repair program (e.g., ASE certification) is preferred.
• Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with experience in used car service being highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
• NYS Inspector’s License
• Valid NYS Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills and customer service-oriented attitude

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
• Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a garage or workshop environment with exposure to automotive fluids and chemicals.
