Summary
Performs any combination of the following duties in the classroom to assist the teaching staff and facilitate student learning. Assist in facilitating learning virtually in collaboration with CCCT&I instructors and the APEX online learning program.
Required education, training, and experience
- Must meet Paraprofessional Requirements: Two-year degree or 48 college semester hours.
- Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Basic understanding of digital tools related to classroom instruction.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Supervises groups of students participating in digital instructional platforms.
- Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators, digital tools equipment for students, etc.
- Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents.
- Maintains and respects the confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Works cooperatively with all school personnel and parents.
- Performs all non-instructional duties as assigned by the administration.
- Operates learning aids (Highway room digital formats) and technological equipment.
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information, including receiving instructions, assignments, and/or directions from superiors.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
- Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Updates progress of students and assists counselors in conferring with parents on the progress of students on a regular basis.
- Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal, and counseling terminology.
- Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal.
