Club Instructor – Chess & STEM (Grades 3–5)
Happy Trails Afterschool Club, Inc. is seeking an energetic, creative, and enthusiastic Chess & STEM Club Instructor to engage students in grades 3–5 through fun, interactive, and hands-on learning experiences. The ideal candidate will inspire creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence in a positive after-school environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging weekly Chess and STEM lessons and activities.
- Teach chess fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Facilitate hands-on STEM projects that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.
- Encourage student participation and support different learning abilities.
- Track student attendance and communicate with program staff.
Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary-aged students.
- Knowledge of chess fundamentals and basic STEM concepts.
- Strong classroom management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to plan age-appropriate, interactive activities.
- Dependable, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with children.
- Must successfully pass a Level II Background Screening (paid for by Happy Trails Afterschool Club).
Position Details
- Position Type: Part-Time, After School
- Grade Levels: 3rd–5th Grade
- Schedule: 1:45 PM – 3:15 PM
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate
