What are the responsibilities and job description for the Budtender (Full-Time/Part-Time) position at Happy Time LLC?
If you’re looking for a “just chill and hang out” cannabis job, this is not it.
We run a professional, performance-driven dispensary. We track numbers. We coach. We hold ourselves to a high standard. And we reward people who show up, work hard, and keep getting better.
We’re hiring a Budtender who wants to grow, not coast.
What You’ll Do
- Provide 1:1 guidance to customers: understand their goals, experience level, and concerns, then match them with the right products and dosage.
- Learn and confidently explain effects, onset times, and product differences (flower, vapes, concentrates, edibles, topicals, etc.).
- Maintain a clean, organized, compliant sales floor and back-of-house.
- Follow our checklists and SOPs for opening, closing, cash handling, and inventory.
- Hit and improve on individual performance targets (average ticket, add-ons, reviews, etc.).
- Use our Point of Sale to ring sales accurately and support customer profiles and loyalty programs.
- Be an active part of a team culture of accountability: taking feedback, giving feedback, and owning your results.
VERY IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS
We are not flexible on these:
- Flawless till handling: You must be able to count the till accurately, follow cash-handling procedures, and reconcile your drawer without “mystery” shortages.
- Consistent punctuality: You must consistently be on time. If you’re often late or calling out, this is not the job for you.
- Upbeat, positive attitude: You must show up energetic, courteous, and coachable. Our guests feel your energy. Negative or low-effort vibes don’t work here.
Who This Is For
You’ll be a great fit if:
- You’re motivated and like being measured. You don’t run from scoreboards; you’re energized by them.
- You don’t shy away from hard work: being on your feet, staying sharp, and handling rushes without complaining.
- You love learning new skills: product knowledge, sales skills, compliance rules, and systems.
- You actually care about people and want to help them use cannabis safely and responsibly.
- You’re reliable: you do what you say you’ll do, every shift.
Requirements
- 21 and eligible to work in Washington State.
- Able to pass all state-required background checks and obtain necessary badges / licenses.
- Retail, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
- Cannabis experience a plus, but coachability and work ethic matter more.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for long periods.
What You Get
- Competitive hourly pay: $ 17.50–$19 / hr tips and incentives based on performance. Experienced staff members average $5/hr in tips.
- Training and ongoing coaching so you keep leveling up your skills.
- Clear expectations, clear feedback, and advancement opportunities for top performers.
- A professional team that takes the work seriously and still enjoys serving customers every day.
