What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Groomer position at Happy Tails Pet Care?
Job Summary
As our dog groomer, you’ll make commission off of each groom. We pay weekly. Your schedule is flexible; when you’ve finished the last dog, you can go home. We max 8 dogs a day: six small and two large. We have staff here to prep, bathe, blow dry, and communicate with you to make your job easier. We are a small business that is incredibly social. We would love someone willing to join our team and make every dog feel special.
Duties
- Perform professional grooming services including trimming, shaving, and styling dogs to their breed standard.
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming procedures.
- Assess each pet’s coat condition, skin health, and overall behavior to tailor grooming plans accordingly.
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized after each use.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about grooming needs and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of dog handling and animal restraint techniques.
- Knowledge of dog breeds, their specific cuts, and safety.
- Familiarity with pet grooming tools, techniques, and breed-specific styling standards.
- Ability to lift heavy dogs (heavy lifting) safely while maintaining proper posture during grooming tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Prior kennel experience or animal care background is a plus for supporting overall pet well-being
