Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring smooth clinic operations.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques for examinations, procedures, and medication administration.
- Support animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, cleaning kennels, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under supervision while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, preparation for testing, and basic diagnostic procedures.
- Assist with specialized animal care including equine handling or other large animal responsibilities when required.
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic medical procedures.
- Experience in animal restraint techniques and medication administration.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and aseptic technique is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and larger species like horses when applicable.
- Previous veterinary assistant or clinic experience is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for motivated candidates eager to learn.
