Happy Little Dumpsters is a veteran-owned and operated dumpster hauling business with operations throughout Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Ruckersville, Palmyra, and surrounding areas. We are seeking to add a full-time driver to our growing team - this driver will report to our Waynesboro office and operate a hooklift truck to move dumpsters to and from customer locations, to landfills, and to storage lots. CDL not required.

Must pass background check and driving record check. No smoking is allowed on job. Minimum height requirement: 5 foot 8 inches.

Responsibilities: Deliver and pickup dumpsters to correct location, with care of customers' property. Use a smart phone to update weight tickets, updating work orders, and updating a spreadsheet for location changes of dumpsters. Hand-tarp dumpster prior to mounting on truck. Deliver dumpsters to landfill or transfer station. De-tarp dumpster prior to dumping. Dump dumpster at landfill or transfer station. Enter weight ticket into smart phone application. Deliver dumpster to next location.

The roll-off driver’s responsibilities include:

• Hauling construction & household materials, waste from construction sites, as well as commercial, residential and industrial premises.
• Completing all delegated duties on dumpster service deliveries and hauling roll-off routes.
• Mounting and dismounting a truck at multiple points throughout each work day.
• When not driving: Other duties as assigned, such as cleaning of trucks and/or dumpsters, spot-painting dumpsters, basic truck maintenance, and facilities maintenance.

About the Position

Routes might require drivers to navigate effectively within crowded and confined regions in both city and suburban areas.

Since a large portion of the time devoted to serving customers is conducted in reverse, backing skills are vital to this position.

Drivers will have to climb in and out of the truck cab to service customers regularly. Other times, drivers may need to climb onto containers to soften loads and position tarps for transportation.

Drivers must be able to push, pull, and bend, as well as lift up to 50 pounds.

Drivers are required to work in all types of weather, including extreme hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions.

Candidate’s driving record must be safe and clean. Drivers must be able to communicate effectively with customers and dispatch personnel, and willingly comply with local, state, and federal transportation legislation and with all official company rules and regulations.

Drivers have to read and comprehend a map or GPS device, finish daily driving reports, along with pre and post-trip inspections.

Necessary qualifications for the dumpster service driver position include:

• Be able to operate a smart phone to manipulate apps throughout the day when delivering or picking up a dumpster
• Be at least 25 years old
• Height 5’8” or above
• Be legally qualified to work in the United States
• Have no medical conditions that prohibit save driving, and have a clean driving record
• Have the capacity to read, write, and speak English well enough to comprehend highway traffic signals, answer inquiries, complete accurate reports and records, and communicate with customers and dispatch personnel.
• Be a team player who takes initiative, seeks responsibility, and has a positive, can-do attitude with customers and team members alike.
• Have the capacity to execute the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Have the ability to pass pre-employment drug screening as well as background and vehicle record checks.

Skills: Must be able to operate a class 5 truck safely, along with operating a hydraulic truck-mounted hooklift. Related skillsets: operating forklifts, tractors, and other heavy hydraulically-operated equipment. Must possess a safe driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 to $21.00 / hour based on experience and qualifications.

Hours: 8a-4p Monday-Friday.
