The Childcare Director is responsible for the overall operation, management, and success of a childcare center. This includes ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, overseeing staff and daily operations, maintaining compliance with state and local regulations, and fostering positive relationships with families, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
• Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curricula and educational programs.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, safety, and health regulations.
• Monitor and maintain high standards for child development and care.
Staff Supervision:
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate teachers and support staff.
• Schedule and lead regular staff meetings and professional development sessions.
• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
Administrative Duties:
• Oversee daily operations including budgeting, enrollment, scheduling, and record-keeping.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with state licensing and funding requirements.
• Manage payroll, purchasing, and resource allocation.
Parent and Community Relations:
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding children’s progress, center policies, and events.
• Promote center programs through community engagement and marketing.
• Handle inquiries, tours, and enrollment processes.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare for and participate in inspections and audits.
• Implement policies and procedures that support safety and compliance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in early childhood education, including 1–2 years in a leadership role.
• Valid director certification/licensure as required by the state.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in budgeting, staffing, and administrative operations.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time, generally Monday through Friday.
• Requires standing, lifting children, and moving classroom equipment as needed.
• Occasional evening or weekend hours for events or training.
