Kennel Attendant

Happy Camper Pet Lodge is a locally owned doggy daycare, boarding and grooming facility located in Richmond, Virginia.

We currently have an opening for a kennel attendant we are hoping to fill immediately! We are seeking someone who is self-motivated, reliable, and absolutely adores being around various breeds of dogs! You must be enthusiastic, passionate, and responsible towards every four legged furry friend that enters our facility. If you have any issues spending copious amounts of time outside (in the hot, cold, sunny & rainy weather) then this position is not right for you. Every day brings new challenges so we need someone flexible and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. You must be able to keep up with the fast paced work environment here. We get to know our clients by providing the best customer service we can with every opportunity that presents itself. We care for all of our clients furry friends as if they were our own. We expect you to do the same as a member of the Happy Camper team! Being enthusiastic & thrilled to interact with the dogs on a daily basis is a requirement.

As a kennel attendant at Happy Camper your daily duties will include (but are no limited to):

• Keeping the yards as poop free as you can
• Ensuring everyone is getting along in their play groups
• Ensuring all dogs get the amount of time outside they deserve (rotations)
• Monitoring weather throughout the day
• Organizing the dogs by their temperament & create groups accordingly
• Evaluating new dog behavior to be sure our facility is the best fit for them
• Constantly refreshing & refilling water buckets in the yards throughout the day
• Preparing and serving meals (we serve breakfast, lunch & dinner so they can eat how they’re used to eating at home)
• Sweeping, mopping, and cleaning up messes throughout the day
• Washing all dishes and buckets as applicable
• Rotating laundry (and making sure it doesn’t get mixed up with ours)
• Thorough cleaning of kennels and common areas daily
• Administering medications as applicable
• Daily baths & simple grooming (nail trims, ear cleaning, etc.)
• Play time
• Ensuring all dogs at our facility for daycare or boarding are receiving the best care they can receive (including brushing their hair when it’s needed, snuggling them when you can, making sure they’re eating their meals, they are as comfortable as they can be for their sleepover, etc.)

Previous experience preferred, but not required

REQUIREMENTS:

• Be able to lift or carry more than 50lbs
• Adore interacting and being hands on with dogs of various size, shapes, and breeds
• Be authorized to legally work in the United States
• Have your own transportation

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
