LOCATION: Houston, TX (Hybrid remote work 50/50 Split) Jupiter, FL is also a possibility

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Monitor Gas Turbine and Auxiliary plant equipment as part of a 24-hour 7-day team based in one of our Monitoring and Diagnostic Center locations.
• Understanding of Gas Turbine systems aka IGV, IBH, multi stage fuel nozzles, CDMS, flashback, disc cavitys/ wheel spaces, bearings, exhausts, and emissions monitoring.
• Work with a variety of different heavy frame Gas Turbines and make recommendations on operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and follow a problem to the root cause.
• Leverage in-house GT experts (controls, performance, design, etc.) for assistance as required.
• Utilize AVEVA (OSIsoft) PI tools for monitoring, analysis and graphical representation of Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and HRSG operations.
• Continue as a team to build a knowledge base of known issues and their indicators for reference for future troubleshooting.
• Clearly communicate corrective actions to customers via e-mails and/or phone calls.
• Required to be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
• Facilitate and actively work to ensure all documentation is correct, complete, timely, and recorded appropriately.
• Able to work a 24/7 rotational 5 shift 12-hour Dupont and overtime as necessary (Hybrid remote work scheduled as nights and weekends, at this time)
• Heavy focus on Gas Turbine operations specifically GE 7FA, GE7EA, SW501, and M501 units.
• Shift operators will also be responsible for monitoring of Centrifugal Compressors use in the LNG industry with GTs as the prime movers.
• Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix
• Could require some elective travel time.
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Training

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 2-year Degree from technical/vocational school OR equivalent experience from Military, Power Generation, or LNG facilities.
• Strong computer competency including Microsoft Office, web-based applications (Pi Vision, SharePoint), remote desktop connections, VPN’s, cyber security, and navigating computer file/folder structures.

Skills/Experience

• 2 years of working in Heavy Frame Gas Turbine Power Plant environment or LNG Facility as an Operator, Technician, I&C, or in Engineering.
• Working experience with GT control systems (GE, MHI, Ovation, and/or Siemens).
• Knowledge of general GT control philosophy, architecture, design, start up, and commissioning experience is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
• Knowledge of GT support systems and associated supervisory instrument limits and alarms levels.
• Strong computer skills including experience working with spreadsheets, databases, Process Information (PI) and word processing software.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Gas Turbine commissioning, operations, mechanical, and diagnostic experience.
• Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) and Control Logic a plus.
• Experience with Nuovo Pignone centrifugal compressors, John Crane dry gas seals, dry gas seal systems, and Gas Turbine/Centrifugal control systems.
• Multilingual candidates (Spanish & Korean) are a plus

Hanwha Power M&D is seeking experienced Gas Turbine Power Plant Professionals (Operations, I&C and variants, or Mechanics) who are looking to transition to an office environment. This role is for power plant professionals who have strong computer skills, communication skills, and can work as the central hub for day-to-day M&D Operations. Hanwha Power M&D monitors close to 70 large frame gas turbines using an alarm system we adjust so we can assist our customers in getting a head of possible issues. M&D also assists our customers during major events trips, runbacks, unloads, as well as fielding cutomer requests to get them back to normal operation. Our customers range from OEM equipment and their available upgrades to Hanwha Power (formally PSM) equipment and upgrades, so no two plants are identical. The M&D Operator role filters the incoming alarms as actionable and not actionable dispositioning what they can using their expertise as well as Knowledge Based Articles, we have written that cover most issues we’ve encountered. Then escalating what they cannot to the shift engineer or specialists for a deeper evaluation when necessary.

Hanwha Power as a company provides aftermarket upgrades, gas turbine equipment, and
outage support for Large Frame Power Plants as well and Gas Turbine Powered Compressors used in LNG that have sought service beyond the OEMs. M&D in itself has Combustion Tuning, Autotune, Controls, Vibration, I&C, and Operations Specialists. M&D also has further support throughout Hanwha Power in the company’s Service Engineering, Tuning, Controls, and R&D departments.
