Essential Functions:

Heat Treat Team Leaders assign, execute and review work performed on assigned shift. They assist fellow team members in the safe execution of each team member’s job responsibilities in alignment with company policies and procedures. They operate equipment and assist team members to maintain efficient productivity within the department.

This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

Beginning of Shift:
Conduct a hand-off meeting with the previous shift Team Leader:
  • Review safety - any incidents that may have occurred, any new issues or hazards-Safety
  • Review quality concerns and incidents that occurred on previous shift-Quality
  • All work in process status-Production
  • All equipment status and any other issues-Maintenance
  • Assignment of shift personnel to machines and non-machine work and job priority-People
  • Review any general topics-General
During the Shift:
  • Ensure every employee is working safely and following company safety standards
  • Identify any safety hazards, inform your team, and generate a safety alert
  • Review any QNM’s generated for accuracy. Create using Qpulse (File, New, From Wizard, NCR or Quality Near Miss Wizard)
  • Ensure work centers have required tools, documents, programs and physical parts to keep machines running
  • Report any equipment issues to maintenance by radio or phone. Create a maintenance work order and report issue to supervisor
  • Monitor employee performance, hold employees accountable, identify issues, and document issues
  • Operate equipment when needed to maintain efficient productivity within the department
  • Conduct and'or monitor any training and orientation as instructed by supervisor, submit Qpulse training acknowledgement form (FM 13) to supervisor when completed
  • Perform Safety Stops, TPMs, Quality Walks (FM 345) and 6S audits routinely
  • Inspect and restore the work area to acceptable 6S status and perform end of shift audit
  • Check all supplies levels, notify supervisor, and fill out request form if needed
  • Contact supervisor if any employee relations issue arises
  • Oversee the execution of the daily forging production schedule and directing the employees in TOC principles that include safety, quality, and productivity along with teamwork
  • Monitors and maintains production standards for efficiency, material waste, and part quality
  • Effectively oversees the process technicians, processes and material flows to ensure achievement of productivity goals
  • Initiates corrective actions to achieve productivity goals
  • Responsible for executing production goals, tracking and reducing downtime, 6S, changeover processes
  • Input, analyzes and communicates quality control data
  • Must be knowledgeable of heat treatment principles (Conventional and Isothermal heat treatment processes)
  • Develops and executes cross training of process technicians ensure team is well trained and flexible
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate good judgment, decision making and team building skills
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Performs other duties as assigned
End of Shift:
  • Conduct a hand-off meeting with the incoming shift Team Leader
  • Communicate identified safety issues/concerns, quality issues, equipment status, production goals and any special instructions or information
  • Conduct 6S walkthrough of area and correct any found issues before shift turnover
  • Prepare and send an end of shift report as instructed by department supervisor

Work Location/Environmental Requirements
:

Nickel and titanium manufacturing facility. Exposure to: moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration; loud noise level

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrates understanding of forging processes
  • Minimum of 1 year working in an industrial manufacturing environment with hands on experience in the Heat Treatment or Forging process.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Required qualification plus preferred qualifications.
  • Basic computer knowledge. Proficiency with Tropos, QPulse and Microsoft Office
  • 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with forging or hydraulic press maintenance background
