Part-Time Assistant Principal

Hanson Elementary School invites applications for the position of half-time Assistant Principal. We seek an educational leader committed to academic rigor, data-informed instruction, and the cultivation of a supportive learning environment for diverse student populations. Collaborating closely with the Principal, the Assistant Principal will contribute to the administrative, instructional, and operational leadership of a PreK–3 school community. A primary focus of this role will be managing school-wide assessment logistics and translating data into actionable instructional strategies. This position requires a strong foundation in pedagogical best practices, curriculum alignment, and positive behavioral intervention frameworks. Primary Responsibilities Assessment & Data Coordination Serve as the School Assessment Coordinator for NWEA and MAP Growth testing cycles (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Oversee all NWEA testing logistics, including creating school-wide testing schedules, managing student rosters, configuring testing sessions, and troubleshooting technical requirements. Coordinate appropriate testing accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and multilingual learners in compliance with state and district guidelines. Lead faculty workshops to analyze NWEA data, utilizing growth metrics and learning continuums to differentiate instruction and target academic interventions. Instructional & Curriculum Leadership Support the implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies and curricula aligned with Maine Learning Results. Assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of multi-tiered student achievement data to inform MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) frameworks and school improvement plans. Provide constructive, formative feedback to faculty through observation cycles to promote continuous professional growth. Student Support & Institutional Culture Manage student behavioral referrals utilizing restorative justice frameworks and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Collaborate with the guidance department, social workers, and faculty to address student social-emotional learning (SEL) and academic engagement. Serve as the administrative representative, as designated, in Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 team meetings. Operations & School Management Share responsibility for daily operational oversight, including student attendance monitoring, supervisory duties, and adherence to school safety and emergency protocols. Assist in the facilitation of faculty meetings, professional development initiatives, and school-wide committees. Foster collaborative, professional partnerships with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders.
