What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Paralegal position at Hanson Law Office?
We are seeking a senior level paralegal professional with at least five or more years of paralegal experience. We will tailor the role, responsibilities, and compensation to match the experience and skill level of the candidate we hire.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working across multiple practice areas in a collaborative small-firm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and filings under attorney supervision
- Maintain and organize client files, both physical and electronic, in accordance with firm procedures
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, title companies, financial institutions, and other third parties
- Track deadlines, filing dates, and matter milestones using firm practice management software
- Conduct basic legal and factual research as assigned
- Assist with scheduling, calendaring, and coordination of client meetings and closings
- Support billing processes, including accurate and timely time entry
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive client information.
Candidates with substantial experience will be given greater autonomy and may take on:
- Independently drafting complex business formation or transaction documents, estate planning documents and trust administration paperwork for attorney review
- Serving as a primary point of contact for select clients on routine matters, under attorney direction
- Managing complex or high-volume caseloads and prioritizing competing deadlines with minimal supervision
- Assisting attorneys with more sophisticated legal research and drafting memoranda summarizing findings
- Identifying process improvements and contributing to firm workflow and technology initiative
Key Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor’s degree a plus
- Prior law firm experience preferred— we will consider candidates with more than five (5) years of relevant paralegal experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); experience with Clio, PracticePanther, or similar practice management software is a plus
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team
- Notary public commission, or willingness to obtain one, preferred
- Duties Typical for Experienced Paralegals (Senior-Level)
