TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE – MARYLAND R&D CENTER

We are currently seeking a motivated and multi-talented scientist to join our Translational Medicine team in Rockville, Maryland. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in translational research on exploring mechanisms of action, pharmacodynamics (PD) biomarkers, validating efficacy and safety of drug candidates using preclinical ex vivo models.
THE POSITION – Scientist/Associate Scientist in Ex Vivo Study
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist/Scientist to join our lab responsible for 3D culture in ex vivo study and library prep of next generation sequencing. The Maryland R&D site focuses on the discovery of novel drug candidates for the treatment of cancer, metabolism, and autoimmune diseases. Candidate is expected to maintain good experiment record and participate in lab management. The successful candidate will work closely with corporate partners, cross-functional teams and project teams to support our pre-clinical and clinical programs. This role offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge 3D organoid culturing, tissue engineering, cancer biology, and immune-oncology research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform ex vivo study-based experiments using standard immunological, cellular and molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, ELISA, Luminex, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
· Perform organoid assays, including viability, proliferation, differentiation, and drug response studies.
· Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, and documentation of experimental procedures.
· Establish, expand, and maintain patient-derived and tissue-specific organoid cultures under sterile conditions.
· Perform cryopreservation and recovery of organoid lines, ensuring biobank integrity.
• Prepare library for next generation sequencing.
• Design key scientific experiments together with project teams.
• Desire and ability to learn new skills to help contribute to our multi-disciplinary teams.
• Provide timely communication and presentations to project teams.
• Assist with general lab management and upkeep including maintenance of biological samples, lab supplies, biological and chemical wastes, and calibration of instruments, in accordance with established guidelines.
• Diligent maintenance of lab records and logs in accordance with the standard practices.
• Other related research functions as deemed necessary to support day-to-day functioning of the lab.
REQUIREMENTS
• Ph.D. degree in biology, cell biology, bioengineering or related areas with 0-2 years of research experience. Post-doctoral experience is preferred but not required.
• Hands-on experience with 3D cell culture, preferably organoid culture, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of sterile technique, cell biology, and tissue culture best practice.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques and flow cytometry is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
