Experienced Climber

Hansen’s Tree Service & Environmental Resources
Lake of the Ozarks, MO

Hansen’s Tree Service & Environmental Resources is looking for an experienced Climber to join our Lake of the Ozarks team. This is a hands-on field position for someone who knows tree work, takes safety seriously, works well with a crew, and takes pride in doing high-quality work for customers.

We are a growing, privately owned company with a strong reputation for professional tree care, environmental services, and dependable customer service. We are looking for someone who wants more than just a job. We want a team member who wants to build skill, contribute to a strong crew, and be part of a company that values safety, professionalism, hard work, and integrity.

What You’ll Do

As a Climber, you will perform skilled tree care work at residential, commercial, municipal, and other customer job sites. You will climb, position, prune, remove, rig, cut, and assist with ground operations as needed.

Essential duties include:

  • Climb trees using approved climbing systems, ropes, saddles, harnesses, ladders, lifts, and other approved access methods.
  • Perform pruning, trimming, removals, limb walking, cutting, rigging, and other tree care tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect trees, limbs, tie-in points, work areas, and jobsite conditions to identify hazards before and during work.
  • Use chainsaws, hand saws, pole saws, ropes, rigging equipment, and other tools safely and properly.
  • Work closely with ground crew members to lower limbs, manage ropes, protect property, and complete jobs safely.
  • Communicate clearly with the crew about hazards, cut plans, rigging, drop zones, equipment movement, and job progress.
  • Assist with brush dragging, cleanup, loading, chipping, equipment setup, and other ground duties when needed.
  • Protect customers’ property, landscaping, structures, fences, driveways, vehicles, and surrounding areas during work.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, use required PPE, and maintain a safety-first approach at all times.
  • Represent Hansen’s professionally when interacting with customers, coworkers, vendors, and the public.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, physically capable, and experienced in tree climbing and technical tree work. You should be comfortable working outdoors, at height, around equipment, and as part of a team.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Prior tree climbing, pruning, removal, or arboriculture experience.
  • Ability to safely climb, position, cut, and work at height.
  • Knowledge of basic rigging, rope handling, knots, and safe work positioning.
  • Experience using chainsaws and tree care tools.
  • Strong hazard awareness and sound judgment on job sites.
  • Ability to follow direction from crew leaders, supervisors, and management.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with crew members while working around active equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Professional attitude when working around customers and the public.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, rain, wind, mud, and changing conditions.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding field position. Candidates must be able to safely perform strenuous outdoor work, including climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, pulling, dragging brush, operating tools, and working at height.

This role requires the ability to:

  • Climb frequently using approved climbing and access methods.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and work above shoulder level.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, or control heavier materials occasionally with assistance, equipment, or safe work methods.
  • Work while wearing required PPE and climbing equipment.
  • Maintain balance, coordination, focus, and situational awareness while working in trees and around active equipment.

Work Environment

This position works primarily outdoors at customer job sites throughout the Lake of the Ozarks area. Work may be performed in trees, from the ground, near trucks and equipment, on roadsides, in wooded areas, on slopes, and around homes, businesses, landscaping, structures, vehicles, pedestrians, traffic, and utility lines.

The job may involve exposure to heat, cold, humidity, rain, wind, dust, mud, noise, vibration, sawdust, wood chips, insects, thorns, poison ivy, and other natural outdoor conditions.

Safety matters here. This role requires constant attention to jobsite hazards, proper equipment use, crew communication, and safe work practices.
