Hansen Hunter is growing and currently hiring for a Senior Audit Associate in our Audit department. The Audit Senior serves as a key engagement leader responsible for directing audit fieldwork, supervising audit staff, reviewing work product, and ensuring engagements are completed efficiently and in accordance with professional standards. The Audit Senior acts as a bridge between engagement teams and firm leadership, overseeing day-to-day engagement execution while mentoring staff and building client relationships.


This role requires strong technical auditing knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to lead multiple engagements simultaneously. Hansen Hunter is a national financial services firm with over 40 years of expertise in supporting the financial health of healthcare organizations. Our services include Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement consulting, back-office support, assurance, and tax services. We work with both for-profit and not-for-profit corporations across the skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, CCRC, home health, hospice, low-income housing, and specialty hospital sectors. Our audit practice focuses on providing financial statement engagement services to our clients, including audit, review, compilation, and agreed upon procedure services. We specialize in Housing and Urban Development (HUD) audits in the long-term care industry. In addition, we perform audits of our client’s employee benefit plans. Our goal is to provide exceptional service to our clients while maintaining a positive and supportive working environment for our valued staff.


Who are you?

  • A CPA (preferred) or eligible CPA candidate (required).
  • An individual with 4 years of recent progressive public accounting experience in Audit/Assurance services (required). SNF and HUD experience a plus.
  • An accountant with strong analytical skills and possesses an understanding of GAAP and accounting and control systems.
  • An individual with experience managing multiple client engagements at the same time.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to effectively work with clients and team members to deliver high-quality work in a timely manner.
  • An individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A motivated professional who enjoys challenges and takes pride in their work.
  • Experience on GAGAS compliance audits and employee benefit plan audits is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using Engagement Manager and Guided Assurance is a plus.


What will you do?

  • Develop an understanding of our client’s business, accounting and control systems, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
  • Perform all segments of assurance engagements, including pre-audit planning, fieldwork, and assisting the clients with the preparation of financial statements with complete footnote disclosures. Including: performing complex audit procedures and evaluating internal controls and risk assessments.
  • Research accounting and auditing developments to better serve our clients, and research technical issues that arise during the course of engagements.
  • Coordinate and lead multiple audit and assurance engagements by assisting in engagement planning and scheduling, monitoring engagement progress and staffing requirements, reviewing staff prepared work, ensuring engagements are completed timely and in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Develop positive strong working relationships with client management by: serving as a primary point of contact for client personnel, responding to client inquiries and requests and identifying opportunities to improve client processes and services.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and technical guidance when mentoring and assisting with training of staff auditors.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Travel to client locations, up to 2-4 weeks of potential travel per year including occasional overnight stays
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
