Description
The Farm Manager & Agronomist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of crop production, ensuring efficient farm operations, and implementing agronomic best practices to optimize yields and sustainability. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning to enhance productivity while maintaining high-quality standards.

This position is centered on crop agronomy and irrigation system management. While some familiarity with farm equipment is helpful, this is not a mechanic or equipment operations management role, and candidates should not expect primary responsibility for equipment repair or fleet oversight.

Farm Manager/ Agronomist Requirements

  • Leadership experience in managing farm employees and coordinating agricultural operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Able to acquire and maintain State of Idaho Pesticide, Chemigation, and Fumigation applicators license.
  • Proven experience in farm management, crop production, and agronomic planning.
  • Strong knowledge of soil health, irrigation, pest control, fertilizer management, and sustainable farming practices, including the ability to diagnose issues and communicate recommendations.
  • Proficiency in ag technology (GPS, precision ag equipment, computers, smart phones, and basic proficiency in Word and Excel), data analysis, and farm management software.
  • Maintain and repair all necessary application equipment.

  • Bilingual in English/ Spanish preferred

Farm Manager/ Agronomist Responsibilities

At Hansen Ranch, our mission is to drive growth by increasing production volume. We will accomplish this by expanding our capacity for volume and forming strategic partnerships to create new opportunities, while adhering to our core values. The Farm Manager & Agronomist plays a critical role in executing this mission through operational excellence and strategic leadership.

  • Plan, implement, and oversee all farm operations: planting, irrigation, fertilization (including mix, load, and applying pesticides in accordance with label required rates and procedures), crop protection, and harvesting.
  • Develop and execute agronomic strategies to enhance crop yields, improve soil health, and optimize farm efficiency.
  • Manage and train farm employees, ensuring productivity, compliance with safety standards, and adherence to company policies.
  • Monitor crop performance, diagnose issues related to pests, diseases, and environmental factors, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate delivery of pesticides and other products to field locations.
  • Track farm productivity, operational costs, and financial performance, providing reports to management.
  • Research and integrate new agricultural technologies and best practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Develop good relations with other managers, landowners, vendors, and customers.
  • Maintain and submit records per company protocol on compliance with the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, GAP, and other agencies.
  • Maintain vehicles, work areas, chemical storage area, produce storage area, in such a way that promotes good safety and compliance practices.
  • Maintain and distribute necessary inventory and PPE to employees.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
