What are the responsibilities and job description for the Actuarial Analyst position at Hansen Actuarial & Risk Consulting, LLC?
We’re looking for an experienced Actuarial Analyst (or Senior Actuarial Analyst) to join our team and help our clients solve complex risk financing problems. In this role, you’ll work across key functions of loss reserving, ratemaking, and risk management over a range of industries and business structures to deliver impactful results. You’ll distill complex information into clear actions, empowering our clients to make informed decisions and becoming a trusted advisor.
Sample of projects our analysts help support include:
- Estimating unpaid property and casualty insurance liabilities, with a disciplined approach to understanding the data, products, coverages, claims function, and reserving methodologies.
- Measuring loss reserve uncertainty for risk management.
- Ratemaking for property and casualty insurance products, including rate level indications, deductible factors, increased limit factors, territorial rating, and classification plans; applying rating plan segmentation tools from machine learning to generalized linear models.
- Pricing for new insurance programs and emerging risks
- Updating rating plans
- Building claim estimation models
- Analyzing reinsurance program placements using experience and exposure-based methods, along with risk transfer testing of reinsurance programs.
Qualifications:
- 1 years of P&C actuarial experience for a consultancy or insurance company
- Experience with either ratemaking or loss reserving for Property & Casualty insurance products, and with risk management concepts
- Completed a minimum of 2 CAS exams up to new ACAS, with an expectation to work towards ACAS or FCAS
- Competency with large datasets and data structures using Excel and SQL.
- Experience with Python or ‘R’ for data processing, actuarial modeling, and visualizations.
- Strong technical, written, and presentation skills (our clients need to understand our recommendations)
- Motivated to use AI to enhance analyses, processes, efficiency, and information quality
