Our client, an innovative engineering organization developing advanced energy technologies, is seeking a Maintenance Integration Engineer to support the integrated design of plant structures, systems, and components with a focus on maintenance and lifecycle reliability. This role will help establish maintenance strategies for complex industrial systems, ensuring maintainability is incorporated throughout the design process while supporting plant operations over the facility lifecycle.

Duration: 12 months
Compensation: $52 - $85 per hour.

Summary:
The Maintenance Integration Engineer serves as the subject matter expert for maintenance during the design and development of advanced industrial facilities. This position partners with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure systems are designed for safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance throughout the plant lifecycle. The successful candidate will develop maintenance strategies, support system integration, and contribute to the design of maintainable plant equipment while collaborating with engineering, operations, and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop guidance and best practices for reliable equipment maintenance programs.
- Support engineering teams in designing plant systems that facilitate efficient preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Develop, maintain, and refine maintenance requirements, specifications, and lifecycle maintenance strategies for plant systems and components.
- Apply engineering and maintenance principles to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and long-term operational performance.
- Develop technology-specific maintenance strategies and incorporate human factors engineering into plant design.
- Support the development of maintenance approaches for radioactive material handling systems, fuel handling equipment, remote operations, and related engineered systems.
- Serve as the maintenance subject matter expert during design reviews and help resolve cross-functional technical issues.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout plant development and system integration activities.
- Coordinate integrated design documentation, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.
- Support development of engineering design packages, calculations, design reports, specifications, and mechanical drawings.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes by applying industry best practices.
- Assist in developing maintenance training materials for operators and maintenance personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting maintenance or operations in commercial or naval nuclear facilities.
- Strong understanding of nuclear maintenance practices, plant work control processes, configuration management, and operational philosophies.
- Knowledge of engineering design control processes for complex industrial or nuclear facilities.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts with minimal supervision.
- Experience managing competing technical priorities while balancing design constraints.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience working under quality assurance standards such as ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, or similar quality programs.
- Demonstrated integrity, collaboration, and commitment to technical excellence.
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting integrated plant design for advanced reactor or other complex industrial facilities.
- Experience developing or approving nuclear operations and maintenance procedures.
- Experience planning complex maintenance or repair activities involving work isolation, rigging, welding, piping modifications, or specialized tooling.
- Knowledge of risk-informed engineering methodologies or probabilistic design approaches.
- Experience developing maintenance training programs for operations or maintenance personnel.
- Experience supporting highly regulated industrial or energy projects.
